Wing Hall Camp

It's that time of year again when L-C-G decide to go camping. We will be at Wing Hall again from the evening of 5th June to Sun 7th. You can use the booking form on the website or give them a call. Make sure you let them know that you are with the Leicester 2CV Club so that we are pitched together. Hope to see you all there.

Skittles Night

Again Andy came up trumps with his Skittles night in Littlethorpe. Some cracking food and beer followed by some of the worst skittles you will ever see. John was crowned champ!

Skegness B&B Weekend

Big thanks to Andy for sorting this one out. We stayed at the 2CV friendly Monsell B&B right in the centre of Skeggy. Sticks of rock, bags of chips, fried breakfasts and ring donuts saw us all come back a few pounds heavier! We hit the slot machines, the dodgems and the ghost train. This was a proper English Seaside Weekend.

2008 National Meeting Storrington

Quite a few of us made it to the National this year. Very muddy! but loads of fun. We were treated to the fantastic band Kissmet once again.

Charleston goes a bit Max-Power

Since burning out the stereo on the Charleston I've been planning and building a new sound system. Much chin scratching took place aided by some great websites that give the right calculations on box sizes etc. I can highly recommend http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ on price and service.

The main aim was to get an efficient system that was completely hidden from view and not to spoil the interior door panels or take up boot space with a sub.

I'm very happy with the results despite not spending a vast amount of cash

Wing Hall Camp/Chicken Camp

Thanks to all who attended the camp on the 13th - 15th June.

The weather just about held out to give us brilliant views of Rutland from our pitch. A great game of Cricket in the dark, it doesn't matter what age you are, half a bottle of wine always brings on silly ideas! See you all at the National.

National 2007

Not many of us L-C-G lot at this one but those that made the drive were treated to one of the best Nationals for organisation and weather in recent years. Nice to see our honourary members Lucy (Devon) and Mick and Nada (Rugby). Hope to see more of you next year in Yorkshire.

Citroen C1

What a great car this is! Forget all the talk about the C3 or Pluriel being the new 2CV, as a driving experience this car is as close as you will get. I want one!!

Raid Beacon Hill 2006

A big thank you to everyone who attended. This event is now in it's fourth year and the number of cars had grown this time around to 11. If you were there you will know that it was as cold as ever at the top, although no ice or frost. I can report that there were no injuries to 2CV drivers from stunt kites this year. The Badgers Sett pub did us proud once again and seems to be as popular as ever judging by the fact that most of us parked on the field. Any coincidence that the ones who got there cars stuck on the muddy bank were also the ones who hit their heads on the extra low light fittings? Daft.
Numbers grow before we set off
Nice Cars!

Too much food........?

Classic Motor Show

6th November saw the classic car show at the NEC take place. 2CVGB picked up another prize. Their stand was excellent, and different to most others who mainly featured concourse condition cars, 2CVGB concentrated on the fun side of the club.
Aside from the national clubs who had given up their precious time, sadly there wasn't alot else to see. A real shame.

2CVGB Mag

Our very own Colin has a piece in the latest club magazine. You might not recognise him, He is dressed as one of the Blues Brothers !?!?!?

Wistow Maize Maze

Thanks to all who attended. Six cars in total came out in the sun. John & Tracy probably get the award for actually collecting all of the clues whilst the rest of us cheated and swapped answers. So something of the Dyane variety as a prize. Did anyone else get a touch of sunburn?
Hopefully we can get another event sorted before Autumn really sets in, ideas anyone? Please forward any photos you have and we will put them here. Thanks again everyone.

Bruntingthorpe

Big thank you to Colin for organising us being at this charity day. Some nice cars on display including Brian's super Traction Avant, then at the other end of the scale there were Viper's, Ferrari's, Lotus' and Masserati's hammering around the track. We had the good grace to stay away from the sports cars unlike the Renault 5 driver who thought he would take on the big boys, it was funny. An aerial display including 2 wing walkers stole the show, I know it was for charity but there is no way you would get me near one of those things. I recommend you all come along next year, it was a good day.

Jeremy Clarkson on the C1

Was reading an article about the C1 and came across this quote from Mr Clarkson "In many ways, it’s the spiritual successor to the old 2CV, that poisonous upturned bathtub favoured by the sort of hippie who’s currently handcuffed to the tow hook of your Land Cruiser". I would comment on this but I'm too busy bringing peace and love to the world - Boomshanka.
